Telescopic Fishing Rod – Portable Backcountry Fishing Option

Backpacking allows me to get to untouched fishing waters.  Casual fisherman like the convenience of drive-up fishing.  While these accessible waters are easy to get to and convenient to fish, the fish generally are wary of fisherman.  The fishing just isn’t that good.  I love fishing backcountry lakes and streams that are rarely even looked at by people, some of which are un-named.  Backpacking trips require extensive planning and preparation.  Size and weight constraints don’t allow me to carry all the gear I usually use when going on a fishing excursion.  Every ounce counts, so careful planning is important.  This is where a telescopic fishing rod combo comes in.  Below, we will go over the advantages of utilizing one of these collapsible rod options.

Advantages Of A Telescopic Fishing Rod Combo

I used to carry my four piece fly rod and reel into the backcountry.  I prefer fly fishing to spin fishing.  Matching the hatch and hooking a rising fish are amazing to experience, especially in the backcountry.  But with fly fishing comes other necessary gear.  Fly boxes, a chest pack, strike indicators, leaders, tippets, and weights are all necessary.  For me to have what I needed just added to much bulk to my pack.  That is when I discovered the telescopic fishing rod (like this inexpensive eagle claw option in the image below).

Features Of Telescopic Fishing Rod Combos

A telescopic fishing rod and reel combo is ideal for backcountry use.  The rod collapses down to just 14 inches, and expands out to 6 feet.  This allows me to easily stow the telescopic fishing rod and reel comfortably into my pack.  Add to that a small tackle box with a few jigs, spinners, hooks and weights, and a protective fishing rod bag, and I’ve got all I need to catch backcountry trout.

Finding The Best Telescopic Fishing Rod Prices

Do an internet search to find the best telescopic fishing rod prices.  My choice for a telescopic fishing rod kit is the Eagle Claw Pack-It Spin Combo Telescopic Rod (1 Piece).  It is affordable ($22 plus shipping), very portable and lightweight, and durable.  I have landed up to 5 pound trout on it.  The reel is a cheap spinning reel, lightweight and small.  Before I purchased it, I looked for telescopic fishing rod reviews online.  This helped me make my decision.

I love to get into the backcountry for camping and fishing.  There is nothing like fresh fish after a long day of hiking.  My telescopic fishing rod and reel allow me to catch what I need to eat as well as fish for fun.  If you are looking to get into backcountry fishing, I recommend telescopic fishing rods.  They are portable, lightweight, and durable enough to land the big one!  Happy fishing!
